• A New Psalter with New Perspectives, Abbot Gregory Polan, O.S.B.

    7:00pm November 4, 2026
  • Abbot Gregory Polan is a monk of Conception Abbey (Missouri) and, from 2016 to 2024, served as Abbot Primate of the Benedictines at Sant’Anselmo (Rome). From 1996 to 2016, he served as Abbot of Conception Abbey. He holds a Ph.D. in Sacred Scripture from Saint Paul University (Ottawa) and, along with many articles and hymns, is the author of two recent books: The Psalms: Songs of Faith and Praise (Paulist Press, 2014) and The Canticles of the Liturgical Hours: Praise from the Ends of the Earth (Paulist Press, 2025). Since 1998, he has led efforts for a new translation of the Revised Grail Psalter, which ultimately received Vatican approval in 2018. Retitled The Abbey Psalms and Canticles, this translation will be used in the newly revised Liturgy of the Hours, the Lectionary, and the Catholic American Bible. Please join us to hear Abbot Polan speak about his translation work, its theological lessons, and a Benedictine spirituality of the Psalms.
